What is sports massage?
Sports massage (also known as deep tissue massage) is a deep form of soft tissue work that is applied in a sporting context. It consists of many different techniques such as effleurage, petrissage , compression, vibration tapotment and friction. There are also some more advance massage techniques like muscle energy techniques (MET), soft tissue release (STR), neuromuscular techniques (NMT) and many more. Sports massage focuses mainly on helping the athlete to achieve top performance, stay injury free as well as supporting the healing process of injuries. But therapeutic massage is not just for athletes. It can be beneficial for anybody who required remedial or soft tissue work, suffers from muscle stiffness, back pain or bad posture.
